What is EVE Vanguard?
EVE Vanguard is a first-person extraction shooter from Fenris Creations, the studio that was CCP Games until 2026. You drop onto a hostile planet as a Warclone — an immortal mercenary who wakes in a new body after every death — raid Upwell salvage sites for gear and tech, then race to extract before other players and the Nemesis Drones overwhelm you.
What sets EVE Vanguard apart is New Eden itself. The game shares its universe, its factions, and increasingly its economy with EVE Online: contracts you finish on the ground ripple into EVE Online's live conflicts, and capsuleers in orbit help decide where your faction takes root. It is one persistent war seen from two sides.
The game is in alpha. The current build, Operation Avalon, is a free playtest running through 20 July 2026 on Steam and the EVE Launcher, ahead of a persistent 24/7 alpha later in the year. This EVE Vanguard wiki tracks what is actually confirmed, updated as each playtest lands.

Is EVE Vanguard free to play?
EVE Vanguard is planned as a paid, buy-to-play PC game, but the alpha playtests so far have been free. Operation Avalon (7–20 July 2026) is open to everyone on Steam and the EVE Launcher at no cost. Fenris Creations has not shared a purchase price for the full release yet.
Do I need to play EVE Online?
No. EVE Vanguard is a standalone shooter you can play without ever touching EVE Online. The two games are linked — your raids feed New Eden's wars — but you do not need an EVE Online subscription to drop into the open alpha and fight.

EVE Vanguard is a PC game for Windows, played through Steam and CCP's EVE Launcher. No console version has been shown or dated. You download the current alpha from the Steam store page or the EVE Launcher during an active playtest window.
