EVE Vanguard glossary

This EVE Vanguard glossary is a plain-language key to the terms you hit the moment you drop into a deployment. Some come straight from EVE Online's decades of lore — New Eden, capsuleers, the Upwell Consortium — while others are specific to Vanguard's ground war: you play a Warclone, an immortal mercenary whose mind jumps into a fresh body after every death. Each entry below strips a word down to what it means for your run, so a patch note or a squadmate's callout stops being a puzzle.

The words that matter most describe how you fight and how you get out. Chipsets swap a gun's fire mode and damage type mid-fight; Deathmarks pay for blueprints and crafting back at the Warbarge; a Harmonic Bridge is the extraction point you race to before orbital bombardment shuts the last one down. If a term here is new, follow it into the beginner guide or the extraction guide for the full picture. The alphabetized list follows.

AEGIS
An EDENCOM command group that views the immortal Vanguard as a threat to New Eden.
Avalon
A wandering flotilla the Warclones seize from the Deathless Circle to use as a home base; also the name of the first Alpha playtest, Operation Avalon.
Capsuleer
An immortal starship pilot in EVE Online. Capsuleers earn Vanguard Tokens and shape where Avalon is settled.
Chipset
A modular weapon component that changes a gun's fire mode (Burst / Full-auto) or damage type (Energy / Kinetic) on the fly.
Deathless Circle
The Zarzakh-based pirate coalition that created Warclone technology, led by The Deathless.
Deathmarks
A progression currency earned on deployments and spent on blueprints, crafting, and vendors.
Deployment
A single drop onto a planet's surface — one run of the extraction loop.
EVE Launcher
CCP's game launcher used to download and run EVE Online and, during playtests, EVE Vanguard.
Extraction
Leaving a match alive with the gear and resources you gathered. Die or fail to reach an exit and you lose what you were carrying.
Harmonic Bridge
An extraction point you activate to leave a deployment with your loot; disabled one by one by orbital bombardment.
Insurgency
An EVE Online conflict system; Vanguard contract completions feed a solar system's insurgency totals.
Mordu's Legion
The mercenary corporation that guards Upwell sites and is the main human enemy on the ground.
Nemesis Drones
Colossal aerial war machines that hunt players who linger — EVE Vanguard's signature boss threat.
New Eden
The star cluster and shared universe of EVE Online, where EVE Vanguard's ground battles take place.
Omega
EVE Online's paid subscription tier; early EVE Vanguard playtests were gated behind Omega access.
PvPvE
A match structure mixing player-versus-player combat with player-versus-environment threats — other Warclones and Mordu's Legion / Nemesis both hunt you.
Quasar
EVE Online's event-driven backend; EVE Vanguard publishes events into it so ground actions affect New Eden's conflicts.
Upwell Consortium
The megacorporation whose salvage sites and structures are the Warclones' main raid targets.
Warbarge
The mobile hub Warclones return to between deployments to craft, buy gear, and set loadouts.
Warclone
The player character in EVE Vanguard: an immortal mercenary whose consciousness transfers into a new expendable body after each death.
