Mordu's Legion forces

Mordu's Legion forces are the rank-and-file human enemy you fight across every Upwell site in EVE Vanguard. The Legion is a mercenary corporation paid to guard the Upwell Consortium's salvage operations, and its infantry hold the dig sites, refineries, and fortified compounds where the best loot sits. Every objective you crack is somewhere they are already standing.

Unlike the Nemesis Drones, these are soldiers who fight like soldiers. They patrol, take cover, call in support, and get harder to shrug off the longer you stay on the ground. For the corporation's structure and history, see the Mordu's Legion faction page.

Who defends the Upwell sites

Mordu's Legion is the private army protecting Upwell's salvage-recovery zones on the Lost Convoy map. You meet them as garrison troops around the dig sites and refineries, and in force at the Legion's own military compound. They are the reason a raid site is never empty: standing patrols cover the approaches, and static defenders hold the tech vaults and command structures you are trying to reach.

As a paid security force rather than a fanatical one, they fight to hold ground and wear you down, not to die throwing themselves at you. Expect coordinated movement, use of cover, and squads that react to where you push instead of charging in a straight line.

An escalating response

The Legion's answer scales with how long you stay. Early contact is patrols and combat drones. Push deeper and marksmen start picking at you from range, forcing you to break line of sight and rotate cover. Overstay and the reinforcements arrive from orbit — troops dropped in by pods and rapid-deployment vehicles that refill a position you thought you had cleared.

At the top of that ladder sits the Heavy Oppressor, a chaingun heavy that drops from the sky to punish players camping an objective. The longer you linger, the more this human pressure stacks on top of the deployment's other time threats, so clearing fast and moving toward extraction beats trying to hold a site indefinitely.

Loot and officers worth hunting

Downed Legion troops drop loot, ammo, and resources, so working through a garrison feeds your run as well as clearing your path. The prize kill is the Reserve Leader, an elite officer marked by red insignia who guards high-value areas. Killing one drops a keycode that unlocks the Fueling Station objective, home to the site's strongest rewards. When you spot the red insignia, that soldier is your key to the best loot on the map.

Frequently asked questions

Are Mordu's Legion forces PvE or other players?

They are PvE — computer-controlled human soldiers guarding the Upwell sites. Other Warclone squads can also be present on a deployment, but the Legion garrison itself is an NPC enemy you fight alongside or against the map's other threats.

How do I stop the reinforcements from arriving?

You cannot switch them off; the Legion's response is tied to how long you stay. The reliable counter is speed — hit your objective, grab the loot, and head for extraction before the drop pods and heavier units stack up and overwhelm your position.
