Reserve Leader

Reserve Leader

The Reserve Leader is an elite Mordu's Legion officer in EVE Vanguard, marked out from ordinary troopers by red insignia. It stands at the top of the Legion's field command chain, posted to guard the sites Upwell most wants protected.

Killing one is the single fastest route to a deployment's best loot. The Reserve Leader carries a keycode, and that keycode is the only way into the Fueling Station objective on Lost Convoy — the source of the map's strongest rewards.

How to spot a Reserve Leader

Look for the red insignia. Where rank-and-file Mordu's Legion forces hold a perimeter in loose squads, the Reserve Leader is the marked officer positioned inside a high-value area — a refinery, a compound, or the ground around a locked objective.

The officer either guards a fixed position or patrols the approach to it, so treat any heavily defended point of interest as a candidate location. If a cluster of Legion troops is dug in harder than usual, the Reserve Leader is likely the reason, and dropping it removes the coordinating threat as well as handing you the keycode.

The keycode and the Fueling Station

When the Reserve Leader dies, it drops a keycode. That keycode unlocks the Fueling Station — also called the Fueling Platform — a high-tier objective that stays sealed to anyone who has not killed the officer first. Inside is the best loot Lost Convoy offers on a run.

The order matters: the keycode is a gate, not a bonus. There is no way around it, so a Fueling Station run is really a Reserve Leader hunt with a second step attached. Clear the officer's escort, take the drop, then move on the platform before the map's escalating threats catch up to you.

Fighting one without losing the run

Because the Reserve Leader sits inside contested ground, killing it usually means fighting through a defended position and drawing more attention. Time spent grinding down the escort feeds the same escalation that summons the Heavy Oppressor and, if you overstay, the Nemesis Drones.

Go in with a plan to leave. Down the officer, grab the keycode, hit the Fueling Station, and route toward a Harmonic Bridge — orbital bombardment shuts those extraction points down one at a time, so the window to cash in the rewards you just unlocked is not open forever.

Frequently asked questions

What does killing a Reserve Leader give you?

It drops a keycode that unlocks the Fueling Station objective on Lost Convoy. That objective holds the map's strongest rewards, and the keycode is the only way to open it, which makes the Reserve Leader a priority target on any high-value run.

Where do Reserve Leaders appear?

They hold or patrol high-value areas on Lost Convoy, so expect them near heavily defended points of interest such as refineries and the Mordu's Legion compound. Look for the red insignia that separates the officer from ordinary Legion troops.
